Captain George L. Moe, USN, (Ret.), passed away on Sunday, 16 November 2025 in Poway, CA. He was 77 years old. George was born in West Orange, NJ on 14 January 1948 to Ingvald and Dorothy Moe. He graduated from West Orange Mountain High School and was a 1970 alumnus of the US Naval Academy.

Upon graduation, George entered flight school and received his "Wings of Gold" as a Naval Aviator in 1972. George served in the Navy for 25 years, with tours of duty in four fighter squadrons, one training squadron, two staff billets and two ships. He began his flying career with VF-194 flying F-8 Crusaders from the USS Oriskany. Ashore, George served as Operations Officer of VT-10 and CSO for Training Airwing 4 in Pensacola. Transitioning to the F-14 Tomcat, he flew with VF-111 in the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans. As XO and CO of the VF-1 Wolfpack, his squadron was awarded the Clifton Trophy (best fighter squadron in the Navy) and Battle E (best fighter squadron in the Pacific). George later served as the Operations Officer on USS Midway during the Persian Gulf War. He completed his flying service as CO of VF-124, responsible for training all Pacific Fleet F-14 aircrews. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal and Navy Achievement Medal.

After retiring from active duty in 1995, George worked for JAYCOR, Inc. as a Division Vice President and General Manager. He was a co-founder (October 2004) and Vice President of Operations for WBB Services, a business group within Whitney, Bradley & Brown, Inc.

Retired again, George volunteered at Father Joe's Villages (St. Vincent de Paul Village) teaching resume and interview skills. Besides his volunteering, he enjoyed family, traveling, and his wine cellar. As one of George's 1st Company mates stated - "In life’s journey, we meet people of all calibers and George was one of the highest!"

Predeceased by his parents, George is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dolores (Dory), his daughter, Katherine Moe, and his sisters, Patricia Moe and Margaret (Moe) Kuell.

George was interred at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, San Diego, California on 14 January 2026. He was laid to rest in the St. Junipero Serra section within the cemetery. Full Military Honors were performed.
